About the Founder

Antelm was founded by Hatty Innes, a London-based entrepreneur living in Fulham. Inspired by short bike rides, busy days, and heading to the pub after work, Antelm grew from noticing how rarely headwear fits naturally into everyday city life.

 

Hatty designs all Antelm hats in London and is developing the brand under The King’s Trust mentorship programme, with a focus on pieces that feel practical, comfortable, and easy to live in.

Antelm hats are soft, foldable knit beanies with discreet internal padding, designed for real city living.

The Outer Knit

Each hat is made from a durable acrylic knit, chosen for warmth, moisture resistance, and longevity. The knit is treated with an additional water-repellent finish, helping it perform in light rain and everyday weather.
 
Soft enough to wear all day, structured enough to hold its shape.

Shock-Absorbing Foam

At the core of each hat is Poron XRD®, a specialist, non-newtonian, foam used in high-performance applications.
Poron XRD remains soft and flexible during normal wear, moulding comfortably to the head.
 
Under sudden force, it briefly firms up, helping to disperse energy before returning to its original state. Independent testing shows it can absorb over 90% of energy at high strain rates, while maintaining performance over time.

This provides added cushioning without bulk or rigidity.

Cut-Resistant Fabric

Layered alongside the foam is UHMWPE fabric (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene), an exceptionally strong yet lightweight textile used in industrial and aerospace applications.

This fabric is:

  • Highly resistant to cuts and abrasion

  • Lightweight and flexible

  • Resistant to wear and ageing

Within Antelm hats, it adds strength and durability, helping the internal layers stand up to everyday knocks, scrapes, and friction.

Hidden, Modular Construction

The internal layers sit inside a patent-pending pocket system, sewn almost closed to keep inserts securely in place while still allowing them to be removed or replaced when needed.

This means Antelm hats are:

  • Discreet, nothing visible from the outside

  • Foldable, easy to pack into a bag or pocket

  • Machine washable, inserts can be removed

  • Replaceable and upgradable, nothing is fixed for life

  • Customisable, Velcro safety add-ons are in development

Designed for Everyday Urban Life

Antelm hats are not helmets and are not designed to replace them. They are made for the moments in between, short rides, mixed journeys, walking, commuting, and social plans, when people would otherwise wear no headgear at all.
​
They are for:

  • Urban cyclists and e-bike riders

  • Commuters mixing transport modes

  • Skateboarders, ice skaters, hikers, and more

Almost everyone wears a hat. Antelm simply makes that hat smarter.
